Aperture, shutter speed and ISO answers.

aperture, shutter speed, and iso

Answer key

1. What three photographic terms describe “The Exposure Triangle”? aperture, shutter speed and ISO

2. What is the definition of exposure? Exposure refers to the amount of light that enters the camera and hits the digital sensor.

3. Exposure is a measure of how dark or bright a photograph is.

Scroll down to What is aperture?

4. The aperture refers to the size of the opening in the lens through which the light enters the camera

5. What is depth of field? The distance between the nearest and the furthest objects that give an image judged to be in focus in a camera.

6. A large aperture, such as f/2 results in a photo with _shallow_depth of field.

7. A small or narrow aperture such as f/11 results in _deep_depth of field.

8. What is shutter speed? The length of time the opening in the lens remains open to let light into the camera and onto the sensor.

9. Why would you choose a fast shutter speed like 1/500 of  a second?
Stopping motion

10. What is ISO?
The ISO refers to how sensitive the digital sensor in your camera is to light. The lower the ISO number, the less sensitive it is to light.

If you are taking photos outside on a bright sunny day, which ISO would be your best choice,  ISO 100 or ISO 3200?
